No Premier League title for Arsenal after win versus Everton

Arsenal played their last match of the season at home against Everton. The atmosphere in the Emirates Stadium was a bit mad. Arsenal started this match 2 points behind table leader Manchester City. The Cityzens played at home against West Ham United. So many Arsenal fans started this match with a more hope than confidence. On the other side, playing for the title on the final day of the season, is always a reason to give you hope.

Crowd silenced

Fans were loud at the start of the match, hoping to inspire the team towards a magical day. After two minutes, mobile phones went mad in the stands, Manchester City already opened the score in Manchester. This goal was a huge downer for the Gunners and they went silent for quite a bit. Another downer on the mood was the free-kick by Gueye which was blasted in Arsenal’s goal. A few minutes later Tomiyasi scored the equalizer for Arsenal. Both teams went back to the dressing room with a 1-1 score.

Tough second half

The second half was a tough one for Arsenal. Everton has become a real defensive force during this season. It was very hard for Arsenal to breakthrough the Everton defense. In the 88th minute it was Kai Havertz who scored the 2-1 winner for the Gunners. Unfortunately for them, it wasn’t enough to win the league. Manchester City had a 3-1 lead at that time and didn’t concede anymore. After dropping off a few games before the end of last season, Arsenal closed the gap this year. With a few good transfers, they might be able to go all the way next season.
