Victories for football's biggest guns in International Friendlies

Wednesday saw victories for Argentina, England, France, Spain and the Netherlands in international friendlies when all five won the games they played. Germany played Italy at home and held onto a 1-1 score. Argentine embraced a 2-1 win over Portugal as Messi's penalty at the last minute gave Argentina the edge. England beat Denmark and ended the game with a 2-1 score in an exhibition of football, while Brazil was defeated by France 1-0. Spain, the World Cup winners, needed a goal from Silva just four minutes before the end of the game to beat Columbia while playing at home in Madrid. The Netherlands proved far too strong for Austria as they won in Eindhoven with three goals to Austria's one. Sneijder, Hunterlaar and Kuyt all scored for the Netherlands and Arnautovic saved Austria from a nil score by scoring a late penalty. In Luxembourg, the home side had two goals from da Mota to give them a decent victory over Slovakia, recent World Cup finalists. Slovakia saved grace by scoring one, leaving the score 2-1 at the end of play.
