Trezeguet shoots Aston Villa to Carabao Cup final
Aston Villa has become the first contestant for the
Carabao Cup final on the first of March. This tie looked destined to go to penalties for a decider, but it was Trézéguet who decided the tie late in injury time.
The Carabao Cup semi-finals are a tie going over 2 matches to decided which teams will earn their place in the final. Aston Villa took the lead in both matches against Leicester City. In both matches it was Nigerian striker Kelechi Ihaenacho who scored the equalizer for the Foxes. When fans of both teams were preparing for a penalty shoot-out, Trezeguet came into the penalty box to put Ahmed El Mohamady behind Kasper Schmeichel.
Back to Wembley
Aston Villa will be at Wembley on the first of March to play the Carabao Cup final. This means a return on a place that gave the club so much joy only 10 months earlier. It was on the 27th of May that Aston Villa won the Championship play-off final against Derby County. This victory meant the return of the Villans in English Premier League. Now they go back to Wembley in an attempt to win the Carabao Cup final on the first of March.
