Most important football finals of 2024

Football is the sport we all love, and I think we can speak for most of us when saying we’re always looking forward to the month of May. This is the month league titles are getting decided and finals will be played. In this article we discuss the most exciting finals that we’re awaiting the remainder of this season.

Champions League final

Depending on the participants, this might be the most highly anticipated final this year. This Champions League is heading towards the quarter finals, which will be played after the current international break. The draw has been done for the remainder of this tournament, so we already know of Manchester City, Real Madrid, Arsenal and Bayern Munich, will face one of Paris-Saint Germain, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and Borussia Dortmund in the final. The final will be played at Wembley, so especially Manchester City and Arsenal are hoping to play the final at home. There fans are ready to book their Champions League final tickets already. Based on the odds, Manchester City versus PSG is currently seen as the most likely final.

Euro 2024 final

The Euro 2024 tournament will be played in Germany this year. England is widely considered as one of the favourites to win the tournament this year. The team where experienced players like Harry Kane and Declan Rice, will play together with experienced young talent like Bukayo Saka and Jude Bellingham. That’s why England fans are already booking their Euro 2024 final tickets with confidence. Looking at the bookmakers, England and France are the best contenders for the final this year.

FA Cup final

If we look locally in England, the FA Cup final is going to be a very important one. With the semi-finals Manchester United versus Coventry and Manchester City versus Chelsea, it’s very likely we’re going to see a replay of the final from last year. In 2023 it was the first ever Manchester derby in the FA Cup final and we’re in for the second edition this year. Only Chelsea looks to be the only serious team to prevent this.

Europa League final

The Europa League final is another highly anticipated final in Europe. The secondary European club tournament final will be played in Dublin. With Liverpool and West Ham United still being in the tournament, an all-English final is still an option. But the most likely option is a final between Liverpool and Bayer Leverkusen. Which can become a very interesting match, since Bayer Leverkusen’s manager Xabi Alonso is named as the most likely candidate to replace Jurgen Klopp.

Conference League final

The Conference League final will be played in Greece. Aston Villa is the only remaining English team in the Conference League. PAOK and Olympiacos are two Greek teams still in the tournament. So whatever happens, there is a serious chance this is going to be a very interesting final.

Championship play-off final

The Championship play-off final is also called the 200 million match. The winner of this match gets promoted to the Premier League which is worth about 200 million. That’s why this match is so extremely special. If we look at the current standing Ipswich Town, Southampton, West Bromwich Albion and Norwich are the four clubs who will play the semi-finals. But there are still 8 rounds to play, so a lot can happen. It looks like Ipswich Town is the only out of the four that can still finish in the top 2 ahead of either Leeds United or Leicester City. Hull City, Coventry City and Preston North End are only 3,4 and 5 points behind Norwich and all three have a match extra to play.
