Poor performances cost England favourites status

England started this tournament as the sole favourite for the Euro 2024 tournament. Now we’re a week in the tournament, they’ve got 4 points after beating Serbia and drawing with Denmark. Nevertheless their performances are far from impressive. These poor performances are the reason England dropped from first favourite to third favourite. Germany

The home nation was already in the top three favourites but now share the top spot together with France. Germany was the first team to qualify for the knockout stages after wins against Scotland and Hungary. On Sunday the Germans will play for the top spot in the group against Switzerland. The Swiss are currently second with four points, so a draw is enough for Germany to win the group.

France

The French side is one filled with top quality players. Their odds for winning the tournament stayed the same as before the tournament, but because of England’s poor performances it means France are shared favourites now. England’s odds for winning the tournament have dropped a bit. Their pretty poor performances are the main reason for this drop. After the draw against Denmark, manager Gareth Southgate said they miss a natural replacement for Kalvin Phillips. England fans are getting annoyed by the choices the manager makes. The team is absolutely stacked with top quality players. But the likes of Cole Palmer and Anthony Gordon haven’t even played a minute in this tournament. These are all decisions that make the fans doubt is Southgate is ever capable of getting a serious result out of this team. Dark horse

It sounds strange to call a huge football nation like Spain the dark horse, but they aren’t amongst the top favourites according to the bookmakers.
