Real Madrid drops points again

Real Madrid continued their rocky start to the LaLiga season with another frustrating draw, this time against Las Palmas. The match ended 1-1, largely due to an outstanding performance by Las Palmas goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen. This result means that Real Madrid has now dropped points in both of their away games this season, and they find themselves four points behind leaders FC Barcelona.

Dream start for Las Palmas

Las Palmas couldn't have asked for a better start. Just minutes into the game, Alberto Moleiro opened the scoring with a well-placed shot after receiving a pass from Oliver McBurnie. Moleiro outmaneuvered both Aurélien Tchouaméni and Éder Militão before slotting the ball past Thibaut Courtois to make it 1-0. McBurnie almost doubled the lead shortly after, but Militão made a crucial defensive intervention to keep Real Madrid in the game.

Cillessen shines in the first half

Real Madrid struggled to create clear chances in the first half. Their first real threat came midway through the half when Federico Valverde, who scored in their previous match against Real Valladolid, unleashed a powerful shot. However, Cillessen was equal to the task, making a fine save to deny the Uruguayan.

Cillessen continued to frustrate Real Madrid, saving a lackluster effort from Kylian Mbappé and then denying Antonio Rüdiger's header just before halftime. Meanwhile, Las Palmas had a chance to double their lead, but Javi Muñoz's shot failed to trouble Courtois.

Vinícius Júnior rescues a point

Real Madrid improved in the second half but still found it difficult to break down Cillessen. Vinícius Júnior and Rodrygo both had attempts, but neither was able to beat the Dutch goalkeeper. However, the breakthrough finally came midway through the second half. Substitute Arda Güler's shot struck the arm of Las Palmas defender Álex Suárez, and the referee awarded a penalty. Vinícius Júnior stepped up and calmly converted from the spot, although Cillessen came agonizingly close to making the save.

Real Madrid push for the Win but fall short

In the closing stages, Real Madrid pushed hard for a winning goal. Substitute Endrick looked lively and posed a threat to the Las Palmas defense. However, Real Madrid also had a narrow escape when Viti's goal for Las Palmas was disallowed due to an offside in the buildup involving Jaime Mata. Despite their efforts, Real Madrid could not find a second goal, and the match ended in a 1-1 draw. This result marks the second time this season that Real Madrid has dropped points, leaving them with a growing gap to close at the top of the table. While the performance was an improvement over previous games, the failure to secure all three points will be a concern for Carlo Ancelotti and his team as they aim to compete for the LaLiga title.
