Carabao Cup 3rd round results

Liverpool, Chelsea, Man City and Arsenal have both secured their spots in the last 16 of the Carabao Cup with impressive victories. Liverpool overpowered West Ham United with a 5-1 win, while Arsenal cruised past Bolton Wanderers with the same scoreline. The fourth-round draw has also been made, setting up some intriguing fixtures for the next stage.

Liverpool's commanding win over West Ham

Liverpool put on a dominant display at home, defeating West Ham 5-1 to advance to the fourth round. Cody Gakpo, who started the match, was the star of the night, scoring twice to seal the victory. The evening began on a shaky note for Liverpool, as a 21st-minute own goal by defender Jarell Quansah gave West Ham an early lead. However, Diogo Jota quickly responded with an equalizer just four minutes later.

Jota continued to shine after the break, scoring a second goal to put Liverpool ahead. Substitute Mohamed Salah extended the lead further with a third goal. In the closing minutes, Gakpo took full advantage of Edson Álvarez’s dismissal following a second yellow card, netting twice to complete the rout and reward Slot’s trust in him.

Arsenal beats Bolton Wanderers

Arsenal had a much smoother path to victory, defeating third-tier Bolton Wanderers 5-1. Declan Rice opened the scoring for Arsenal, with 17-year-old sensation Ethan Nwaneri doubling the lead before halftime. Nwaneri struck again in the second half, alongside goals from Raheem Sterling and Kai Havertz. Bolton managed to pull one back through Aaron Collins, but it was merely a consolation as Arsenal dominated throughout. In a notable twist, 16-year-old goalkeeper Jack Porter was handed his debut for Arsenal due to injury problems. Dutch prospect Ismeal Kabia (18) also made an appearance in the closing stages of the match.

Chelsea and Manchester City qualify for next round

Elsewhere, Chelsea made light work of Barrow, winning 5-0. Christopher Nkunku scored a hat-trick, with the Blues showcasing excellent combination play throughout the match. Meanwhile, Manchester City had a harder time against Championship side Watford but ultimately secured a 2-1 win. Goals from Jeremy Doku and Matheus Nunes saw City through, though Watford made things tense with a late goal from Thomas Ince.
