Rooney's ban upheld by the FA

Despite scoring for Manchester United in the Champions League quarter finals played last Wednesday, the FA refuse to budge on their decision to uphold a two-match ban given to Rooney. Rooney swore into a TV camera and used abusive language while at Upton Park last Saturday. Just four days after Rooney stunned the audience watching worldwide by unleashing a range of expletives while looking directly at a TV camera, Rooney could be seen celebrating on the pitch after scoring against Chelsea. Rooney had appealed the charge, claiming it was excessive, but looks set to stay on the sidelines for the upcoming semi-final match against Manchester City on the 16th of April. Despite apologising straightaway, and unlike other players who have been caught using offensive language on camera, Rooney was given a ban leaving him out of play for the next two games. The team will be without Rooney while attempting to keep the Premier League title within its grasp while they battle at Old Trafford against Fulham and also while they play in the semi-final match against Manchester City. The club remains at the top of the table for the Premier League with Arsenal trailing by 7 points.
