Liverpool striker, Daniel Sturridge scored the only goal of the match at Wembley to give England a 1-0 win against Denmark last night

Sturridge headed home a fine cross by Adam Lallana in the 82nd minute, his third goal for the Three Lions in 10 games.

England came into this match after two losses against Chile and Germany in which Roy Hodgson’s men could not find the net but the home team was not to be denied this time.

This was the last game before the England manager names his provisional 30-man squad for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

Elsewhere, Spain beat Italy and Germany defeated Chile both by 1-0. Pedro scored for the Spaniards against la Azzurri at Atletico’s Vicente Calderon stadium while Markus Reus took advantage of a great pass by Mezut Ozil to break the Chilean defense in Stuttgart.

World Cup host Brazil cruised to a 5-0 victory against South Africa at the Soccer City stadium in Soweto. Neymar netted a treble as Oscar and Fernandinho also scored for La Camarinha.

Meanwhile, Cristiano Ronaldo took his international tally to 49 with a double to become Portugal's all-time leading scorer as he helped his national team to trash Cameroon 5-1 in Lieira.

Finally, despite having the likes of Messi, Aguero and Higuain all lined up, Argentina played out a goalless draw against Romania at the National Stadium in Bucharest.
