England, Wales, Ireland International Friendlies & Euro 2016

International friendly & Euro 2016: England, Wales, Ireland tickets

Leicester City’s incredible turnaround this campaign from possible relegation last year to potential Premier League champions this season is due in part to England Internationals Danny Drinkwater and Jamie Vardy. Leicester’s Danny Drinkwater is longing for a fairytale finish to the season after he was named to the England Squad last week. Drinkwater, 26, is called up to the England National Team for the first time ever for England’s upcoming friendly matches against Germany and the Netherlands in March.

England Squad to play Germany and Holland

Goalkeepers Butland (Stoke), Forster (Southampton), Hart (Man City)

Defenders Bertrand (Southampton), Cahill (Chelsea), Clyne (Liverpool), Jagielka (Everton), Rose (Tottenham), Smalling (Man United), Stones (Everton), Walker (Tottenham).

Midfielders Alli (Tottenham), Barkley (Everton), Dier (Tottenham), Drinkwater (Leicester), Henderson (Liverpool), Lallana (Liverpool), Milner (Liverpool), Sterling (Manchester City).

Forwards Kane (Tottenham), Sturridge (Liverpool), Vardy (Leicester), Walcott (Arsenal), Welbeck (Arsenal).

League leaders Leicester City’s Danny Drinkwater said “it would be one of the best years of my life" if he earns a winner’s medal and England Premier League silverware for his side, and is chosen to play at Euro 2016, the European Championship. "It sounds exactly how I would want it to end," said Drinkwater.

Drinkwater is currently the top-tackling English midfielder in the Premier League with 83 successful efforts for Leicester City who are 5 points clear at the top of the Premier League ahead of Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City, Arsenal, West Ham, and Manchester United. Drinkwater has played a key role in Leicester's amazing 2015-16 title challenge, appearing in 29 out of 31 games this campaign.

Drinkwater ranks as the Premier League’s top tackling English midfielder - his 1596 passes are ranked fourth highest in history for an English midfielder. Premier League superstars Wayne Rooney, Harry Kane, Jamie Vardy, and Danny Drinkwater have all been named to the England National Team’s friendly squad preparing for Euro 2016.

"If it does happen, as far as football seasons go, it is mad, it's special," Drinkwater said when asked what his response will be if Leicester wins the Premier League and he is called up for Euro 2016 . "It has been a bit crazy," said Drinkwater. "When it was announced, it was a bit of an emotional day for family, friends and my girlfriend."

"The day the list was released, I did not know what to think. I was all over the place. We have had our first training session. Now I am ready to crack on,” continued Drinkwater "I am buzzing. It is every lad's dream. If you ask any young kid if they want to play football for your country, they would snap your hand off."

“I was out on loan a lot,” said Drinkwater. Drinkwater started his career at Manchester United, then spent time on loan at Huddersfield, Cardiff, Watford and Barnsley, before joining Championship club Leicester City in January 2012.

Then Leicester manager, Nigel Pearson said on the occasion of Drinkwater’s signing by the Foxes, "He is a player we have monitored for a long time, we're delighted to get him here. In that situation, it is tough to think about playing for the national team. I left United and the dream went further away, but I have worked hard to get it closer."

Drinkwater’s team-mate Tottenham Hotspurs’ Harry Kane currently leads the Premier League’s scoring chart with 21 strikes, and Foxes frontman Jamie Vardy has 19. Manchester United and England captain Wayne Rooney leads England with the most total goals earned by footballers currently competing.

When asked about England’s upcoming games with Germany and Netherlands, Drinkwater was focused on winning both matches. “We just know we are here to focus on England in the next two games,” said Drinkwater. "That is all we are going to work on and how to get results in those games."

England's 10th and final game of the 2015 brought a 7th victory as England defeated France on an emotional evening before more than 70,000 fans who honored the victims of the Paris attacks.

England’s last match was a 2-0 victory against France on November 17, 2015 with a goal from Dele Alli on his full England debut at 39 minutes, and Rooney at 48 minutes. Rooney doubled the lead to seal the win with a close-range shot from Raheem Sterling's cross, after Alli opened the scoring for England with a fine 25-yead finish. England goalie Joe Hart kept a clean sheet.

England next travel to Germany to clash at Olympiastadion in Berlin on March 26th. Then on March 29th, England hosts Netherlands at Wembley Stadium in London.
